*General Members Meeting*
*January 22, 2008*
*Meeting opened: *at 7 p.m., with city clerk Mary Scott swearing in the new officers for the 2008 year. New officers are: Kathy Barrett, president; Kathy Almoslechner, vice president; Millie Faust, treasurer and Ginny Brinker, secretary.
*Treasurer's report:* treasurer reported a balance of $4985.37
*President's report:* Kathy B. gave a review of 2007 and thanked the outgoing president(s) and secretary for a job well done. Committees and chairs were also announced for the 2008 year.
*Upcoming meeting(s):* Kathy B. announced that the budget committee will be meeting on January 29, 2008 to form a committee based budget for 2008.
*Adopt A Block:* The 100 block of Van Voast Ave. was chosen to be this year's "Adopt A Block". 46 homes line the street, 23 with chain link fences. Block have a minimal number of street trees. Carley Staverman and Judie Boughner will help spear drive and be cheerleaders for this project. A 2008 tree grant being prepared by the city will include trees for this block.
*Military Support: * city clerk Mary Scott informed the members on the community's efforts to secure $800 to cover the cost and shipping of cases of "Thank You" girl scout cookies to the guys and gals on Bellevue's military support lists. All donations can be sent to:
Bellevue Military Fund c/o 616 Poplar St. Bellevue, Ky. 41073.
*Discussions: * a brief discussions was held about the mentoring program being formed in the Bellevue schools and how BNA might assist this cause.
*Unfinished business:*
* web site: police Sargent Pat Riley will assist BNA in getting
the BNA web site back in operation. Once problems are corrected
the site should be easy to maintain. If interested in being the
web site moderator, please contact Kathy Barrett at 859-291-1806.
* 501-C(3): Carley Satverman will be investigating the work needed
for BNA to proceed in securing this important tax designation.
* By-laws: president Kathy will be meeting with Steve Brun to
review the current by-laws and review for possible updating.
*Announcements:*
* 2008 Bellevue Clean Up: will be held April 26, 2008. Volunteers
are needed
* Memorial Day Parade: BNA will again participate and hand out
flower seed packets to folks along the route.
* Fireworks parking: BNA will again secure a few parking lots for
this annual event to be used as a fund raiser.
* Home tour 2009, BNA will be investigating possible homes that
would be available for the 2009 Holiday Home Tour.
*Next meeting: * next BNA meeting will be 7 p.m., February 26, 2008, Callahan Center. Guest speaker will be Chris Warneford, city of Bellevue code enforcement officer.
